Room 1's challenge!
The kids in Room 1 are going to be seeing how many small chip packets we use in six weeks! Then we are going to join them together and create something exciting!(to be decided) After that we will look at different options for eating chips or snacks without using lots of packaging. We have already thought of lots of ideas!

Room 4 Clingwrap analysis
HI there from Room 4 Clyde School!
We have already started looking at the types of rubbish we end up with after lunch by keeping it all with us then doing a quick analysis after lunch each day. We have kept hold of all the plastic clingwrap and on Monday 17th the Yr 7 & 8s in this class will measure how far a weeks worth of clingwrap, from 27 students, will go. There have been predictions made by everyone ranging from 5 metres to 1 kilometre. We will post the results here. And maybe a photo or two. How far do you think it will go?

Zero Waste Challenge
Central Otago District Council, the Sustainable Living group, and Central Otago WasteBusters are teaming up with Enviroschools Central Otago to run a “Zero Waste Challenge” for all schools.
This is part of the ‘Gearing Up for Change’ initiative as our Central Otago district gets ready for the introduction of a fortnightly rubbish collection from 1 July 2014.
As a school we are going take up the “Zero Waste Challenge” and all classes will be looking at ways we can reduce, reuse and recycle in order to minimise our school and home waste.
You can keep an eye on our progress by visiting our blog regularly. Hopefully you'll pick up some great tips to help you reduce, reuse and recycle at home.
